In what might very well be a camp record for earliest release of a camp shirt, the T-shirt for this year’s Teen Camp was officially unveiled at this year’s Spring Retreat. Pictured above, the speaker for the weekend, Rick Court, sports the shirt for the camp while preaching. The camp, for those entering 10th grade through 2012 high school graduates, will take place July 29 to Aug. 4.

The theme for the week, as the shirt says, is Revive.

Check out the themes for our other weeks this summer on the Delanco Camp Pinterest site HERE and let us know if you will be attending Teen Camp in the comments.

I love the simplicity of this acoustic version of Moriah Peters “I Choose Jesus” and the weight of the simple refrain. In life we are faced with a choice of who we will follow, whether we will go after the trappings of the world and things that will eventually fade away or follow “the way, the truth and the life” that is Jesus Christ.

Because of the choice Jesus made to die on the cross for our sins, we have the freedom to either accept this gift or not. Will you choose Jesus?

Peters talks about the song in this video. You can purchase the song and full-length CD at Christianbook.com by clicking here (affiliate link)

Josh Hamilton achieved something last night only 15 other players in the history of Major League Baseball have done – hitting four homeruns in a game. Against the Orioles, Hamilton was just about as perfect as it gets from a night at the plate, 5 hits in 5 at bats, all of them extra base hits, 18 total bases and eight runs batted in. For those of you not into baseball who those figures are lost on, that’s as good as it gets.

But still that’s not the best part. Whenever Hamilton draws the attention of media for his exploits on the field he is quick to point to the power of God that brought him back to baseball from drug and alcohol abuse and put his life off the field back in order.

Writing about Hamilton’s big night in a column for the Baltimore Sun, columnist Peter Shmuck quoted Hamilton saying this:

“When you think about what God has done in my life and everything I did to mess it up and to finally surrender everything and ask him for help and to pursue that relationship with Christ on a daily basis, and understanding that when I don’t pursue it I end up messing up. It’s got to be the forefront of my recovery and the forefront of being a good dad, a husband, a good teammate, so that’s what I focus on. Knowing that I play for an audience of one — Jesus Christ.”

Few of us get to go to work and play in front of tens of thousands of people every night (sadly, only 11,000 showed up to Camden Yards for the historic effort last night), but like Hamilton we should be striving to live our lives for an audience of one.

Rather than seeking the approval of the masses, our heart’s desire should on the things of God and a life of purpose and fulfillment that even the praise of baseball fans and sportswriters being lavished today on Josh Hamilton can’t even come close to providing.

Though they are now based in Nashville, Dinner and A Suit have ties to South Jersey, forming in Moorestown. The song in the above video, “Too Late,” appears on the band’s debut full-length album Since Our Departure and has been generating a fair amount of buzz online of late.

As for the band’s name, well it’s a really cool story. The great-grandmother of two of the band members (cousins) was a seamstress during the Great Depression who would take home discarded suits from the factory where she worked, mend them and give them to men down on their luck after inviting them over for dinner.

Pretty cool, huh?

If you’ve ever been to one of our camps or even spent any time on this blog, you’ll know that the Pretzel Roll Sandwich is one of our signatures and, according to this year’s Blog Madness, our most beloved camp food. Every Friday of camp, the foil balls at lunch time signal that the last full day of camp isn’t quite so bad after all.

The first time I had a Pretzel Roll Sandwich at camp it was a rarity. I hadn’t yet been to Isaac’s (a Central Pa. chain), discovered Heritage’s pretzel rolls (which are more pretzel than roll) or seen any of the so-called pretzel rolls sold at the supermarket. In other words, it was a summer camp thing, a novelty best enjoyed on the grounds of camp. The one time I came home with leftover frozen rolls and rationed them out over a couple months illustrated that point even more. They were good warmed up in my microwave, but just not the same.

Enter the Pretzelnator, a crowdsourced burger now available at McDonald’s in Germany and perhaps some time in the future stateside.

According to Laughing Squid:

The Pretzelnator is the first of five burgers to be created from the crowd-sourced Mein Burger campaign started by Berlin agency Razorfish Germany for McDonald’s Germany. In this campaign, McDonald’s Germany encouraged their customers to create a custom burger and then have their creation voted on at their website. The winning Pretzelnator burger is now being served in McDonald’s locations in Germany for a limited time. It is topped with ham, American and Italian cheese and has a pretzel-like bun.

What do you think? Should we talk to Mama McCullough about experimenting with burgers on our beloved Pretzel Roll Sandwiches or leave that to the Germans? Also, if the Pretzelnator became available at your local MickyDs, would you try one?
