It started out as a discussion on Facebook between Kevin Wolf, Carlton Bodine III and CJ Caufield about the NBC comedy Community‘s take on police procedural drama Law & Order back in April and how funny it would be to do a parody of the parody out at camp in the summer.
When Teen Camp rolled around, it was all about execution as the trio set about making the video a reality with a cast that included Spencer Barber, Tony Jones, CJ, Colleen McCullough, Josh Ott, Emily Collier, Caitlin Coffee and a team of extras.
No pretzel roll sandwiches were harmed in the making of this video.
At Space Camp you don’t play simple night games. Eventually campers will be running around, screaming and laughing just like at any other camp or any other night but it’s the introduction and the presentation that really made the night games at Space Camp reach a whole new level. Here is the well-planned staff of Junior High 1 delighting and entertaining the campers with the introduction to the Star Wars night game.
Our very last night at Junior High 1 the campers came to the dining hall expecting that they were going to watch the movie E.T. In their pajamas, the campers settled in to watch the screen when the movie happened right in front of their eyes! These before and after clips set the scene for what turned out to be a crazy-run-around night game.
Here is video of the worship band from Teen Camp 2012, which has taken to calling themselves Holy Improv (or Wholly Improv), playing the song “Revive,” which they wrote to tie in with the theme for the week.
Ashley Paige takes on the lies and fabrications spreading from pop culture in this powerful spoken word presentation. While we like to borrow from many aspects – good and positive aspects – of popular culture in the programs we run at camp, the focus is always on the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which Paige eloquently points out in this video is the only way to a fulfilled life. The challenge for us as followers of Christ is to reject the lies and embrace God’s truth.
What do you think? What are some of the lies you find hardest to reject that come from our popular culture?
